1. Yes, it is generally advised to register for the course initially if you plan to seek an exemption. You can then drop the course after passing the exam.

2. Yes, the lecturers will talk about the details of the exemption exams during the first one or two weeks.

3. It depends. Some tests might be administered as take-home exams, while others are scheduled during non-class hours.

4. Even if you pass the exemption exam, you still have to choose another course to be enrolled in a full-time course load (at least three courses). Thus this won't affect your tuition.
