  • Building Connections

After my first week of interning, I had dinner with my roommate who’s interning at the IMF. She told me she had already scheduled 13 coffee chats on her first day! Inspired (or intimidated), I scheduled 5 coffee chats this week. Each conversation was incredibly encouraging and insightful, making me feel truly grateful.

  • A Visit from the Boss

Our team’s senior manager flew in from Seattle. Despite his title, he was very down-to-earth, sharing his experiences at Comcast in Philly and expressing genuine hope that I would join Amazon after graduation. He even gave me some personal golf tips, and I somehow managed to score second place in one of the rounds, which testifies he’s a very inspiring leader.

  • Learning over Delivering

My mentor emphasized that delivering the project isn’t the main focus — what matters is learning and having fun. He even suggested I spend a month getting familiar with the environment before starting on the design document. It’s comforting to know feeling overwhelmed is normal and things will fall into place eventually.

  • The Importance of Retrospectives
